Hot and sunny. Saw a weka, lots of fantails and brown creepers, heard kākāriki, shining cuckoo. Lots of wasps. Planned three days, but got very bored at Montgomerie Hut so I walked out. | |

A most delightful 6 hour walk up to Kirwans Hut and Kirwans Hill in the beautiful Victoria Forest Park. Was treated to some very special sunsets and weather-enhanced landscapes. The bird-life is extraordinary! | |
