Alert Possum control for Molesworth Recreation Reserve

A possum control operation using 1080 bait:

  • was completed in the Bush Gully-Tarndale area on 22 August 2023.
  • was completed in the Yarra/Five-Mile on 28 October 2023.

The operations cover up to 87,000 hectares. See a map (PDF,10,075K). Learn more on the OSPRI website.

Molesworth Recreation Reserve is open with warning signs in place at key entrances and points.

There may be toxic carcasses and bait (green coloured pellets) in the area. Warning signs and this web alert will be removed when the area is safe again. The area in the pesticide summary map will also show as safe. As conditions in the area have been extremely dry, animal carcasses have taken longer than the usual 8 months expected to completely break down.  

1080 is deadly to dogs. Dogs are not permitted in Molesworth Recreation Reserve at any time.
