Possum control operation in Upper Wairau – Rainbow area
There is a ground based (cyanide) possum control operation running unti 30 October 2024 to eliminate the risk of bovine TB spreading in domestic stock. The operation covers 8,713 hectares along the Rainbow Road from Chinaman Stream to No Mans Creek. It extends up to the headwaters of the Rainbow River, Coldwater Creek and Judges Creek. Poison warning signs will be in place and maintained throughout the operation. There is a risk from secondary poisoning.
