We plan to distribute toxic bait pellets containing 1080 on Saturday 27 April, depending on the weather. There will be multiple helicopters working over the Makaroa Valleys.

The following closures will be in place:

• Blue Pools Carpark, the immediate surrounding public conservation land, and entrance to the Blue Pools Track will be closed from 9 am Friday 26 April – 11am Sunday 28 April.
• The Cameron Flat Campground will be closed from 9 am Friday 26 April – 11 am Sunday 28 April.
• The Siberia Airstrip and Jumboland Airstrip will be closed from 8 am Saturday 27 April – 8am Sunday 28 April.

If weather or other issues cause the operation to extend into Sunday 28, these closures will be extended until 11 am on Monday 29 April.

Once the bait has been distributed, it’s not safe to hunt for food in this area for up to 8 months. Warning signs and this web alert will be removed once the area is safe again.
