Predator control for Caples Routeburn Dart area
A predator control operation using toxic bait containing 1080 was completed on 9 March. Caples Routeburn Dart area is open to the public with warning signs in place at key entrances. There may be toxic carcasses and bait (green coloured pellets) in the area. It’s not safe to hunt for food in this area for up to 10 months. Warning signs and this web alert will be removed when the area is safe again. Dogs are not allowed in this area at any time. 1080 is deadly to dogs. How to keep dogs safe around 1080. Routeburn Track rock fall
There has been a section of rock fall between the Routeburn Flats Hut and Routeburn Falls Hut above the Emily Creek bridge about 20 m in length. The section has been cleared and trampers can move through one person at a time and with no stopping. Obey all signage. First published on 16 March 2024. |

Routeburn Track Closed
During the extreme weather of 3 February 2020, the Routeburn Track sustained significant damage and will not reopen this season and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. The track will require considerable repair work to be operational. |
