Alert Possum control for Clarence Reserve south

A possum control operation using 1080 bait was completed in the southern area of Ka Whata Tu o Rakihouia (Clarence Reserve) on 6 July 2023. The operation covers up to 40,000 hectares. View map of control area (JPG, 4,500K).

Ka Whata Tu o Rakihouia Conservation Park remains open with warning signs in place at key entrances.

Do not take and eat animals in this area until the area is safe. This will be shown by removal of the warning signs and this alert. The area in the pesticide summary map will also show as safe. As conditions in the area have been extremely dry, animal carcasses have taken longer than the usual 8 months expected to completely break down.
