Hey Trampers! I lived in Richmond from Jan 2009 to June 2012. My family moved to NZ from Atlanta, GA, USA for a bit of a lifestyle change. Although we have moved back to Atlanta again, I still make annual trips to NZ to go tramping. I absolutely love this amazing country and the awesome, unique hut system.
By the way, I only record huts that I have bagged, which means sleeping in them. That's how I do hut-bagging.
Toaroaha Saddle-Frew Saddle Circuit

4 – 6 days. Medium. One way.
A great tramp in a remote location, crosses two alpine saddles, ice-axes and crampons needed in winter. More information on the DOC website.

A cozy old NZFS hut built 1966. A good woodburner, 100m walk to the Leatham River for water.

An old NZ Forest Service hut up the Begley Valley. Fire doesn't draw well and door has to be left open a crack.
