I understand where you're coming from Matthew.
I would like to point out though, that the word 'urbanite' is not in any way derogatory - it simply means a person who lives in an urban environment. If someone feels that their delicate sensibilities have been offended enough to complain to you over such a trivial matter, I truly feel sorry for them.
On the other hand, as an example, to refer to someone as a 'country bumkin' (not that anyone did so) that would be derogatory.
