Heating Gear

I'm planning a tramp to Kime Hut in October. If the forecast is bad we will abandon, and if the forecast is poor we will probably target Field instead. But, if the forecast is okay we will go ahead. I'm still concerned about the temp in the hut and got to thinking about my options to try warm the place. Does anyone have experience or recommendations for heating on a tramp? My brief research has turned up a few options, but I can't find any review on how these handle on the ground: 1) butane heater (i.e. https://tinyurl.com/ya7toh5j) 2) portable stove cap (i.e https://tinyurl.com/ycqlsm3v) Any other ideas? FYI - We will be a party of 4 strong men (35 - 45yrs). 3 experienced and 1 inexperienced. We can handle additional weight.
Spooning. Lol.
IMO I wouldn't bother with flash techno devices to heat Kime. Just take extra clothes and make do: Beanie, buff, warm hut socks, etc. If there's a few bodies in there, Kime warms up ok.
BTW even if weather is atrocious, Field is sheltered in bush enough to make it. Then if weather breaks, you can be-bop on up to Table Top for some views.
Balaclava down jacket fleece top. My stove froze to the bench in Waiapahu but we were still warm. Of course by October the really cold weather has gone anyway
Just warm clothing and a good sleeping bag, waste of time trying to heat the hut. So just keep yourself warm. I like my down jackets. I have had fires roaring in huts, and less than a meter away snow on the floor not melting.
Surely with the new insulation and double-glazing (at Kime) any heat that you generate will stay in the hut? We are looking at doing a bit of a formal dinner, and I am loath for my sublime cooking to be allowed to go cold....
ever heard of carbon monoxide poisoning? you'll have to ventilate the hut if you're burning gas, by default you should never close a hut up completely except as a last resort in a severe storm
If you are cooking a fancy meal you will be surprised how quickly your stoves heat the hut. What are you cooking and how many stoves will you use? I typically use 2 when cooking for a group
Can you close up modern doc huts? At least not without a newspaper and some sticky tape. Always-open vents with thru gales seem to be mandatory (eg Mangahuka). Or have been in the tenders I've seen go advertused for stuff local to here. A local joinery outfit I know here tendered to supply windows, doors etc for one , invluding closable vents in the door rather than always open ones requested. They were told that closable vents were not acceptable.
