Gregoire Bornand​, 24, was due to return from a reported two-day fishing trip to the Poulter River, near Mount White Station in Canterbury, on March 9, but never showed, a police statement said. A search and rescue helicopter was deployed to search the river, track and nearby Department of Conservation huts on Wednesday. His car was left in the Poulter River car park on March 7, the statement said. Bornand, also known as Greg, had been living in New Zealand since October 2016 and was believed to be on holiday. Anyone who may have seen him fishing in the river, or travelling around the area, on or since March 7 is asked to contact police quoting reference number P028839530.
