Getting boots resoled

Has anyone ever had their boots resoled? I have a pair of meindl island pros that are about 10 years old and the midsole and sole are shot. The distributor has given me a price that is certainly cheaper than buying a new pair but I am wondering if this is really going to give me a bit more time or will I have to stump up in the near future anyway? Any thoughts would be welcome.
I have some favourite Montrails. Got a choice between a lighter/grippy or heavier longer lasting sole. Being frugal, I went for the heavier. Now they weigh a ton compared to what you buy. Replacement soles on quality boots can be okay. On cheaper boots, it's just the first thing that goes before the next problem, such as stitching. Mostly, I use cheaper boots and think of them as disposables. 10 years sounds like a pretty good run ? :) Just make sure your Meindls repairer knows what he's doing with glues etc. Whereabouts are you located ?.
Thanks pro-active. I am napier based but was intending to send them down to stager sports in alexandria who are the nz distrbutors.
Hmm. Mixed reviews on Stagers. Tends to be you find a good person and patronise them. Don't want to spook you, tho !. http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.nz/f12/resole-meindl-22223/ Might want to try FishnHunt or NZHuntingandshooting forums also if you want to hear from an actual Meindl wearer ?.
My La Sportiva Nepals have got to be 15 years old. The uppers are in great shape, but the soles are about done, and i got as far as getting the distributor to bring in some soles for them which cost $90. The sole includes the plastic midsole, and the crampon welts. Their recommended shoe place in ChCh to fit them didnt fill me with confidence on a previous repair, so im stalling actually getting them fitted. Let me know if you find someone that really knows there adhesives.
Chch ?. Personally recommend "McGregor Shoe Service and Coffee". 27 Lincoln Road. https://scontent.fakl1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/12019837_432227146963527_1363940509986716851_n.jpg Still selling Cuban cigars too ? aargh ! No pic ! - https://www.facebook.com/McGregors-290935307759379/
Personable fellow but didn't quite properly repair a seam. Mind you at least he was prepared to repair my old boot. The chap up the road told me to chuck them out!
I have used the Shoe Sheriff in Auckland. Did a stretch and reshape on the heels of some boots for me plus a resole on another pair. Did a damn good job on both. http://shoesheriff.co.nz/shoe-repair/
