tent advice

Hi, I am in the market for a mid-range tent - do not know much about tents and cannot decide on two options - can anyone please help? I am wondering which of these two tents would be better option: 1. Bora 2 Person Tent v2 ($269.98) http://www.kathmandu.co.nz/camp-and-hike/tents-and-shelters/bora-2-person-tent-v2.html or 2. WEKA 2 HIKER TENT ($249.00) http://www.kiwicamping.co.nz/hiker.cfm?product_id=1762 thanks for any help you can give.
If you need to carry it, consider the weight. They are both heavy tents. This subject has been done recently have a look at past threads as they offer different options.
If it's for two persons, splitting the weight between you, it's an OK weight, but still slightly heavy. But for carrying alone they are heavy tents. I wouldn't carry a tent that is more than 1.8 kg, and would aim for 1.2 kg or less.
If you're new, consider weight, but as you may not like tramping, indeed get something cheaper. I've carried a 3.5 kg tent, fine for tramps of a few hours, camp, and then back. Carrying it for days walking through mountains would probably not be the smart thing to do with that weight.
few tents that weigh bout 1kg to 2 kg or so, now
lets not split hairs over the weights of those tents, they arent that unreasonable weight wise if thats your budget,,, lighter tents are generally more expensive, sometimes a lot more expensive, when you weigh 70 or more kilos and carry 10kilos or more then an extra half kilo or kilo for a tent doesnt matter that much if thats what you can afford.
Depends on what you are wanting to use for. Weka looks to have a better wind profile. Slightly higher too. Weka has double vestibules and double openings ?. One each ?. Big plus !. If possible, see them pitched and have a clamber inside.
Half a kilo might not sound like a lot but if someday you decide to go lightweight (which is pretty much all up side) your shelter (along with your pack, sleeping bag and rain gear) are your biggest opportunities to gram shave. If you can save half a kilo on all of those suddenly you're saving multiple kilos, which becomes significant. Have you looked at tarptent.com? Zpacks.com? Very light and sturdy tents.
as i indicated, not everyone has the budget for ultralight gear. tghe OP has targetsed two tents in a lower price range, talk of ultralight gear is academic
Agree with @waynowski that suggesting more expensive tents just because they are lighter may not be what the op is looking for as he did state he was looking for mid-level. I have used a Kiwi Camping Solo as my one person tent for years now and it has been great. Not the lightest tent in the world but has been very durable so I would probably lean that way.
