Nelson Lakes 23-29 Dec 16

I'm heading out for 6 nights beginning and ending in St Arnaud if anyone's interested. I walk relatively quickly and do 6-8 hour days. No set itinerary as yet, but some variation of the Travers-Sabine, possibly including Moss Pass.
I'm planning to do Travers-Sabine circuit this January solo so I would be interested to know your experience and feedbacks.
Ha ha! I doubt you will be solo much in January. There will be many others. Should be no problem except if weather bad on the day you cross the saddle. Don't forget if you go via Angelus hut that you need to book.
Indeed. Expect some huts to be full, such as Speargrass, which is the smallest of the loop but close to the road so gets weekenders as well, and Blue Lake, which is a destination in itself as well as part of Te Araroa. Going up from BL to Moss Pass is a wee scramble, but no biggy. :) Fantastic views on the D'Urville side. If it rains hard, the river can come up dramatically and the tributaries crossing the D'Urville track might force you to stay put until they finish.
