Lightweight 2 man tent
Hi guys,
I'm looking into getting myself a new tent, and have decided to go for a lightweight 2 man this time around. I did have a bit of a look at previous discussions on tents and the like, but didn't see anything that really fit my requirements.
Requirements: 2.4 kg maximum weight, Must have enough room lengthwise to accomodate someone 6'2", Vestibule preferably large enough to accomodate a large pack, or cooking in if the weather closes in, Would also like it to be something that stands up to strong wind quite well. Preferably available in nz.
Looking at the luxe 2 man tents, they look intriguing. The ones pitched with tramping poles seem like they could be a bit sketchy in wind, which is a concern as over the next few years its likely I will be getting into trips where tops camping is a possibility. Anyone used any of the luxe tents, particularly with regard to wind?
Cheers!

Yeah, I've got a Wild Country Zephyros 2 Lite and would strongly recommend it. I had mine nicked late last year, but had no hesitation in replacing with same. There's ample room for one with plenty of gear, room for two though wouldn't be ideal for two on a longer trip - there is a 2 XL version I think. It's nice and light, packs down small, and pitches outer first which is always very handy.
I've got the Zephyros 1 - great little tent, highly recommended.
I also have a Luxe 1 man tent - very, very light but only really useful in summer as it's more of a glorified tarp. Be careful with Luxe stuff - the first one I ordered was so short that I couldn't get in it without feet touching the fly (I'm 5'11").
Cheers for the warning on the luxe stuff about height. I've found a few tents a bit short in the past (all borrowed thankfully). And I was specifically considering the luxe habitat, as I think I would just buy a new tarp in preference to a few of their options.
I quite like the idea of the zephyros 2 lite to be honest, Seems a very good weight, and like it should be large enough and long enough. The normal zephyros 2 is also an option being as it is actually available in NZ.
@lloydy, @hutchk, Glad to hear from people who have used the zephyros 1 and 2. There seem to be rather a lot of good things said about them, but its nice to hear from people who have used the within nz.
Thanks guys!

I have the luxe habitat nx3 got it for 350 although i have only used it once but it seems solid eneough end on if youve got the end guy pegged out although its probably too short for you,(205cm) but i think the sil version is 215 cm and 140cm wide which is fairly large also the nx3 is 2.4kg so abit heavier then it says but the sil version is lighter, there was abit of condensation but wasnt too bad cause it has a part solid part mesh inner so it couldnt really get through, my mate has the scarp 2 and i wouldnt say there is much more room than for just your boots in the vestibule, certainly not enough to cook ulsee you have a jetboil or similar i guess.
Also has anyone had any experience with theses guys tentshttp://www.intentsoutdoors.co.nz/collections/tents?page=2
Especialy the 4 season ones
those tents are polyester, forget it, its weak material, you need nylon... I wouldnt touch a 4 season tent at that price,
tents like that are cheap copies of genuine 4 season tents that you pay a lot more for and have superior materials and design.
I see they have a siliconised nylon one but it is sold out.
Yeah, Looks like the luxe stuff is a smidge short. Probably going to go with a Wild country zephyros 2, I don't think Id go for the light version as I don't think the extra cost warrants the 100g weight saving. Zephyros 2 is looking to have an attractive balance of size, weight and price, and from what Ive read it does well in the wind.
Cheers
I would like to know how you get on with it as I am also 6'2" and looking for a similar tent.
@lloydy how does the size work for you?
