new gloves for the wet and winter - ideas?

Just came back from completing the Tongariro Northern Circuit the other day, and since it rained 2 days out of 3 it sure showed up which of my gear actually is waterproof and which was not. The positives were my Macpac Prophet AP jacket and Pertex pants combo which held up really well, also Salewa Rapace boots stayed dry all day (admitted hidden under gaiters) However gloves were a totally different story :( I had some waterproof Outdoor Research Riot gloves, which leaked like a sieve through the stitching. Very disappointed in them. Looking at a handful of the outdoors shop sites I can't see a whole lot of options that look any more waterproof than what I had. Seems it's mostly fleece gloves and ski gloves out there. Anybody have something that works well? I managed ok because it was summer, so wet hands wasn't too bad given it wasn't super cold. Keeping the wind chill off was the main requirement. But if I go again in winter I really really want to be able to tuck the gloves under the jacket sleeve and stay dry!

@maics: can't find Ninja ice gloves that are totally enclosed in waterproof material so I've coated the back of one with painted-on electrician's tape as an experiment and wear it back to front as the palmar surface coating is better quality than my DIY job. Trouble is, I haven't worn them in the wet for hours but today is a grotty day so we can zip over and back to Lyttelton and see how they go. Of course, cold wx would be a better test.
has anybody tried Extremities as a brand? These mitts look pretty well spec'd and I like the discount.. http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/7PGLIN4EX/title/millet-extrem-gtx-mitt
They're Millet gloves - they make good stuff.
unless you're in alpine conditions a lot in winter, those mitts are a bit extreme. the problem with heavily insulated mitts in the rain is they will take on a tonne of water as well. I'd drop down a notch in warmth, something like these very nice with pitards leather. http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/7PGLFN4IC/title/millet-ice-fall-gtx-gloves or possibly these, but they sound like they might be light on insulation http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/L4GLFN4SM/title/extremities-storm-gore-tex-mitt
OK Thanks Honora , we have them at work for the winter ,thats all.Was just a thought .
@malcs. - Have talked with Honora about them before. Blackwoods Protector have the full-coat, as well as the palms-only pairs, for $18.26 http://shop.blackwoodsprotector.co.nz/servlet/Srv.Ecos_Signon?CN=12488A&AC=L@GZqOYjw2BPbw2A&UC=BPGUEST§ion=393
Pro-active pm'ed me and I've gone and ordered some on-line. I'll report back how they go (in winter). I've ordered the 2XL as I want to wear them with possum merino gloves underneath. BTW I find most of my possum merino gloves when I'm biking along. Magpie vision. Of course, none of them match...
I had the Extremities brand mitts. The palmar lining wore off eventually from scrambling along rock. However, if you then peel off the remaining lining and paint that good old electrician's tape stuff on, you can restore the lining. Not sure how long it lasts because I painted over partially removed lining. However the electrician's tape in the black pot isn't too pricey and can be used for all sorts of things. Yesterday I covered up the fraying nasty underwires on my gaiters with the stuff. I've put red dipping electrician's tape on the handles of my tools as I'm nervous of accidentally biffing one away when I'm track clearing - in fact I lost a damn mitt doing that on one occasion. Should have painted it red!
