Moisture inside Sleeping Mats and other gear

So I've seen a number of videos online showing mould growing inside sleeping mats. This is even more present in ones with synthetic down. I've always suspected this on my pillow too. Even though it is self inflating I sometimes give it an extra puff while trying to not huff in wet air. A lot of overseas videos show the little pumps you can get but they don't really seem to be a product in NZ that I see. http://www.exped.com/usa/en/product-category/mats/schnozzel-pumpbag-ul-m http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Sleeping-Pad-Accessory-Reviews/Therm-a-Rest-NeoAir-Pump-Sack http://www.exped.com/usa/en/product-category/mats/mini-pump-granite-grey Does anyone use these pumps? Or just "a bit of mould on the inside never hurt anyone" kind of approach because it's just extra weight to carry a pump. It would deteriorate the material a bit quicker. Just looking at buying my first sleeping mat so asking questions.
Better not to look inside. The plastic they are made of keeps it all safe and sound (hope) Probably even worse on the manual inflate mates which you have to blow up. 50mm thick and 300g though makes it worth it
I bought an Exped schnozzle from Bivouac last year. Works really well and doubles as a dry bag. Macpac also do a version, but it's nowhere near as good.
You can make your own inflation bag - virtually no cost, ultra lightweight, very fast inflation, tested on Exped and Thermarest (and probably works with other valves as well) I've detailed the construction here : http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=21748 Even if moisture/mould doesn't cause problems, using a bag is easier than lungs.
PS Don't buy a Macpac mat, they're noisy as buggery.
The Exped schnozzle is a great bit of kit to have. Fast to inflate mats.
28g sounds like an attractive weight. Thanks for posting the how-to, Bernieq.
