River safety

Just a plug for the Swift Water Awareness course eight SAR members attended over last weekend.I`ve crossed a few rivers over the years but Keith Riley(Hokitika) & Jarren really put us through our paces.(Tai Potini Polytech course)These guys breathe water, particularly white, turbulent, freshwater stuff.
The big thing I gained was confidence in the river including knowing when not to cross.Plus the power of numbers & some of the finer points. All done in safety.Drowning in rivers is still the NZ Death-nothing has changed in 150 years!
