Milford Track in one day (boat from Sand Fly)
Hi guys,
We are a group of fast and experienced trail runners. We originally wanted to to Milford Track the regular way (booking huts, etc) but all the huts are booked out until Feb 2015.
We are more than capable of running it in one day but looks like transportation will be a problem.
We can get the first boat at Te Anau Downs but we need to find a later boat to Milford Sound from Sand Fly point. Last one is at 3pm. Is there anyway we can arrange a small boat for the 4 of us at (say) 7pm and do the whole track in one day non-stop? We intend doing this in Feb 2015.

It has been done before. A member of HVTC is also in a group in Wellington called Ridge runners. I dont have any contact details though. They did the Milford on the Saturday the Routburn on the Sunday and half the Kepler on the Monday. Just for fun? They even had time to take photos.
I do know they did it right at the end of the season and split in 2 with one group running each way. Dont know if the charted the boat for a late pickup

pack rafts would solve your problem... not even necessarily one per person if you did a shuttle with them...
