Going Solo/Soulo?

Check out "Inukshuk"(Tramper) and going "Soulo".Anyone contemplating going Solo (Soulo)or have any comments about going on your own e mail me at plf.inukshuk.soulo@gmail.com
I went on several solo day trips this year, and found these trips very memorable. On your own you are more in touch with nature. The trips were partly off track, in the Waitakere Range. Off track the speed was 0.3 km per hour, and up to twice that in places. I took care to leave my position with someone, in case of accidents, but there were none. Bruce.
i usually always go solo when i go tramping, however these are mostly daytramps with the odd overnighter. i always leave a note to say where i am going and text some one when i return. i enjoy going solo, can go as fast or slow as i like and can go wherever and whenever i like, although it is not as much fun as tramping with mates. i think you just have to use good judgement and be well prepared when out there by yourself
I usually always go on my own, whether it be a day walk or on overnighters. I always leave details of my wherabouts and the time due out. I am considering a locator beacon for those multi day tramps.
Count me in. Topographical maps, a compass, a gps and a locator beacon have been my best friends. I will do some extended solo tramps early next year.
I am a absolute solo nut, 95% of my trips are solo with the average length being 14 days. The is no other way to tramp. Yes it is nuts and if trouble comes a calling then you have only yourself to get you out of it. But a hot dam wild trip that pushes you to the limit and beyond............what a kick.
The best account i can refer to for solo activity in NZ is Aart Vervorn's book, Mountain Solitudes. He did many years solo mountainerring in the Westland area and presents a most balanced argument on going solo. I rarely hear a compelling argument from anyone on this subject because of all the considerations.

I am back. Again solo-celebrated the new year! Best wishes. http://members.westnet.com.au/dzungn/solo-celebrating2008.jpg
In need of a car to get to tramps I am after an old reliable car (for tramping) with buy-back options (I am a careful female driver). I will leave Melbourne late January and arrive in Auckland at the beginning of Febuary and travel from North to South. Tramping in South Island is in question (been there a couple of times). I very much look forward to your contacts offering the special, tips... related to this request and can be contacted via dzungn@melbpc.org.au
