Sleeping Pads
Going on a 4-5 night trip spending quite a bit of time above the bush line so think it is time for a proper sleeping pad.
So what does everyone recommend?
Probably looking at pads under 800 grams.
You only need shoulder to knees length. Some people prefer a full length but they are very bulky.
The main purpose of a sleeping pad is to insulate you from the cold in the ground. A closed cell foam pad does this and is also tough enough to be strapped on the outside of your pack and used as a "sit upon" at rest stops.
A self inflatable is more comfortable and more expensive but needs to be protected from damage. Getting it damaged on a trip is a bit of a disaster.
Probably would use a standard foam pad for this trip.Do not have time to organise a inflatable.
At the moment trying to decide between a Insulmat AO Aero Mtn, but they do not seem to quote R numbers. Otherwise would probably purchase a Prolite 4, or maybe wait until the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir is released.
