Nice pics! Brought back fond memories of a trip I did around the mountain years back. I think you got way better weather!!
I'd do Around The Mountain if I had a tent. Never mind. Will do so on my next next visit.
I wouldn't bother with a tent on the around the mountain trip. There are very few places to camp. Taranaki is a bit odd like that.
The reason that I carry a tent with me is for safety, just in case not being able to make it to hut. It was a rather long day tramp from Holly Hut to Waiaua Gorge Hut and Waiaua Gorge Hut to Lake Dive Hut. The route from Holly Hut to Kahui Hut was closed due to erosion.
