Best glue for patching an old sleeping bag? Nylon.
What glue would you use to patch a hole in an old-but-good sleeping bag? Nylon to nylon.
Preferably something available from Mitre 10 or Bunnings.
Cheers!
I've used Tenacious Tape to repair snags in the kids down jackets. Quite a permanent repair. Rather spendy though.

@nzbazza cheers for the tenacious tape idea. I also asked on an overseas hiking forum and the unanimous suggestion was Tenacious Tape. Looks like good stuff.
3M transpore is bloody good tape for mending holes in duvet jackets. It tears into the desired size easily and survived being washed, no trouble. It would be just as good for a sleeping bag. The wide tape is an inch wide and is clear.
