@Ian_H "Winston Peters fishing from his own backyard" https://tramper.nz/imgcache/28/28201-feature@2x.jpg http://tramper.nz/files/objectversions/28201/200413%20winston%20peters%20fishing.jpg ""In a photo the Deputy Prime Minister published to his Twitter and Facebook pages (12/4/20), Peters captions a picture of himself fishing while a nearby horse eats the grass. It's captioned: "I'm fishing he's mowing the front lawn ..."" https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12324443
Off with his head Seriously knowing Peters that photo will turn out to have been taken in February but it is still at best very bad taste to publish a photo like that knowing that it breaks the rules. At least Clark got someone else to take and release the photo. ps is a cycle trip to a river to fish now permitted. Its not using a car?
'Fishing' doesn't appear on the Forbidden List. 'Water-based' activities does. But he's on land, in his own backyard. And, yeah, we don't know WHEN the photo was taken. My understanding is that leaving your property should only be for essential trips; groceries, medical or exercise, within your close neighbourhood. Might loosen a little April 23rd ?. Not much wiggle room before then.
Assuming the pic was taken during lockdown and if he is not leaving his backyard and/or going out on the water I don't think you can nail him for anything currently illegal as such. He's not leaving his "bubble" so is not a risk of spreading the virus and he is not on the water so presumably an insignificant risk in terms of needing the coastguard/rescue. Now is it really something he should be posting given the situation with some of his cabinet colleagues and given how frustrated a lot of people are because they can not do something similar? No, probably not. So more bad taste than illegal but then I imagine Winston does not give a ****!
Thumbs up

He has always liked rubbing peoples faces in it. All I can say is its now his horses turn
has hit rock bottom and continues to dig....
""The (DoC) is now calling on people to dob in trampers who continue to use DOC huts and tracks. Information from residents near tracks and from social media posts showed a number of hikers were continuing to use tracks in the Waikato, including the Bridal Veil Falls, Mt Karioi and the Hakarimata Summit Trail. Barriers have since been installed on the Hakarimata Summit Trail with signs telling the public not to use the track. “We are asking that if people notice behaviours that are not appropriate, to please report this (to the Police) ...."" https://www.wildernessmag.co.nz/huts-wont-be-re-opening-soon/?ml_subscriber=1399468070438704362&ml_subscriber_hash=o7d3&utm_source=Newsletter%20-%20MailerLite&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=huts_wont_be_opening_anytime_soon&utm_term=2020-04-15
how many rescues do they do on hakarimata summit walk? its right next to huntly.... its a footpath theres plenty of people walking around town within 2m as they pass each other on pavements and walking tracks...
Well the Hakarimatas can be an absolute highway on weekends and I imagine distancing could be problematic especially if you extrapolate the numbers out given the number of extra walkers we have around the neighbourhood. Also if people start travelling distances to get there then decide to fuel up whatever else... It is probably still a low risk activity given all of that but really it is easier just to say "don't do it" and suck it up for a month.
Since we are a week out from a possible reduction to Level 3, I wonder if we will be then allowed to go for walks into the bush. Will they remove the barriers/signs ... what caveats will they impose (huts to still stay closed etc)
