Where is this?

Bit of a challenge since we can't go bush. Where is this photo (winner gets to go next). http://qrp.nz/system/images/6/IMG_20200319_172300_original.jpg Hint: the fenceline is the clue

https://tramper.nz/imgcache/28/28310-feature.jpg What's the peak behind us,
Lyell Peak? Sorry, Madpom!
If you mean Mount Lyall in the Murchison Mtns, Southland then No. It's further north. If you mean Lyell Pk near Arthurs Pass, then it's further south.
When this thread was running hot, some participants showed an exceptional ability to pick the right answers quickly. I figured they had access to good research material or extensive experience and good memory. Therefore i struggled to find a challenge amongst my photo storage that still had a clue in it. Maybe interest has just faded away. From the ridge we are standing on, the popular valley down to the right (north) shares a name with an australian explorer who fell out of favour with the australian government. The valley toward the left shares a name with Queen Victoria's lover
My participation levels died along with my lap top! (Now I am just posting from work). Plus, I was strictly either recognising somewhere straight off or using everyone else's hard work to jump in at the end and steal the answer! No super sleuthing from me sadly.
Mt Jumbo? Between the Albert Burn and Wilkin Valley?
Did i make it too easy? Your go Yarmoss.
I found the clues harder than the picture🙂 A bit too cryptic for my back at work brain. Wilkins upset the Aussie authorities with his support for the Aboriginal people but I didn’t think he really fell out of favour🤔 Given that widowed Vicky was alleged to have had a thing with John Brown, I never even considered her husband Albert as her lover🙄 You should write crosswords Aardvark 🤓
I admit when i read the clues I was stuck on John Brown as well!
I supposed Queen Victoria had to have loved Albert at some stage or other. She married him. For all of Wilkins achievements he is hardly even known of by most Australians. It's not a reflection of todays Australia where your labelled a hero for winning a sporting competition. It's hard to believe Australia hasn't found a reason to put this guy on some kind of pedestal.
