Short easy valley walk / camp near Christchurch?

We're considering taking our kids aged 3 and 5 on their first tent-camping tramping trip. We've taken them to Rod Donald (twice), Packhorse (twice), Woolshed Creek, and parts of the Queen Charlotte (twice). Looking for suggestions for an easy walk not too far from Chch (thinking foothills, Hurunui/Lake Sumner, Arthurs Pass) where we can walk for just 1-2kms and then camp. The camping spot would need to have a water source eg stream nearby. We will need two tents therefore two tramping packs so we won't be able to take the backpack carrier and our three year old will be walking the whole way. Hawdon would be good except for the river crossing at the start. Can anyone suggest any other options where we could do a short easy walk and then camp? Thanks for any ideas
Glen Tui is a nice camping area you can drive to with day walks. Castle Hill has some nice sounding options and a little further away is Anti Crow hut although that would be stretching the walking limit a little although its mostly flat and lovely scenery. Lots of camping options on the way

Bealey Spur Hut might be a possibility. You could camp by the tarns on the way to the hut.
Thanks for the ideas. I hadn't thought of camping before Bealey Spur Hut but that's a good idea. Are there any good camping options in the first 2km of track to Anti Crow Hut? If there was something along the start of the track before it goes out onto the riverbed that might be a good option. (lived in Chch 37 years and have never been to Anti Crow!)
Almost exactly that. We encountered a large school group of kids playing field games just before ascending into the bush from the river flats on the way back from Carrington hut last.
That's just over 2k from where the track meets the hwy.
