Hut water warning signage changes
Historically we have the "The water provided in this facility is generally safe to drink but". But now in the St James Walkway (and probably elsewhere) we now we see these:

I dont suppose the water quality has diminished but DoC are covering their butts more efficiently.
I find this sad, what with the new tourist conservation levy, charging more, providing less. Clean green NZ. No drinking water provided.

Years ago, the norovirus outbreak at Carrington Hut (Arthurs Pass NP) led to those disinfectant spray bottles being left at huts to spray the benches with. I saw someone at our work cutting their tomato on the metal bench directly which was a bit surprising - aside from bluntening the knife.
Frank read that boil water notice at Anti-Crow Hut and got spooked the other day. I just interpreted it as the usual DoC butt-covering...
I can remember when those benches were galvanized iron often minus the galvanizing. If the bugs didnt get you the heavy metal poisoning certainly would
