New website for planning group adventure trips
Hello everyone :-)
We've recently released a website for helping you plan adventure trips - http://www.roughplan.com
It's free and you can create as many trips as you like.
Each trip can have a calendar, messages, whiteboards, budget and map. And as a safety net there is an online intentions system called 'Panic Alert'.
We're getting great feedback and we'd love you to give it a whirl and let us know what you think.
Hello. Thanks for the link. I've only taken an anecdotal look but it looks like a pretty cool idea.
For what it's worth, I was almost put off by the need to create an account before being able to see any of the functionality.
It looks possible to make certain parts of a trip public, but as yet I can't figure out how to see the visible parts of anyone else's trips, so it's little more than a login screen for anyone who doesn't want to create an account straight away. It'd probably be easier to attract people if there was more to look at without logging in.
How many users are there so far, and where's the feedback from?
Hi izogi,
Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, we have had others say that they'd like to see more info before signing up and we have created some info under our 'About Us' page with screen prints etc.
We are developing the public part for sharing trips - it's a future phase. You'll see the Find a Trip section.
We've been getting feedback from our friends, the NZAC is using the site for planning some of their courses and the Mountain Safety Council are giving us feedback on the Panic Alert system.
Released in June, we have about 130 members, planning 60 or so trips to date.
Excellent site. Look forward to seeing the public bit.
Thanks for the feedback pmcke. Will keep tramper.co.nz posted on the public trip sharing option.
Signed up as I like the idea of being able to have the site notify someone if you're not back by a certain date. We often take off pretty spontaneously and decide at the last minute where we're going!
Hi Guys,
As promised I said I'd let you know when the public 'Find a trip' part was live. It now is - so you can share your trips with other RoughPlan members and allow others to express an interest in joining your trip if you need more participants.
Let us know what you think.
