Mt Ruapehu Plane crash site

Hi there, I am looking at doing a mission on Mt Ruapehu. I would like to traverse to the 1940's plane crash site and then up to the summit. Does anyone know the GPS co-ordinates for the site? I can't find them anywhere online although I have seen the map of the site in the past. Thanks

I am never a fan of private messaging, because if others are interested in a topic and happen upon a forum thread and the answer was hidden away in a pm then they would be forced to create a duplicate thread. The location is no great secret, it is not going to be overrun by tourists or sightseers, sick of the scaremongering. Here is a NZherald article which contains the approximate location. Wilderness Magazine has an article on a route which passes by it.
Thumbs up
I've just been on my 2nd attempt to locate the Kaka. I have done extensive research, which leads me believe there may not be much left. If I do locate wreckage I will share it as I see fit. From both attempts I can assure all that access is very limited.
Going back for another go this weekend. I have been told very recently that most of the wreckage was recovered around 20 years ago. Apparently this can be found in reliable published material.
