I haven't considered this route seriously before as the common advice seemed to be "stay out of the Otehake".
Anyone been down the Otehake valley in recent years?

as of dec 18 the track is clear and followable from the hut to the hot pools. The hut is still the same but clean, weather tight and repainted. See remotehuts.co.nz or facebook for details.
