I was introduced to tramping 12 years ago. I thought I was going to die as I struggled up to Powell Hut for an uncomfortable overnight. Thirty schoolgirls surgically attached to their cellphones didn't help. Since then I've tramped most the Tararuas, the Great Walks, the Ruahines, and the Pyrenees. I've met some fabulous people, and seen some superb sights that are only available to the Chosen Few. I live in Greytown, and have the luxury of retirement, so I can get up there whenever the weather allows. I love tramping alone or with interesting souls who know how to hold a good conversation.
