I am 58 as of Dec 2007, Kiwi from Darfield, Canterbury, I am a keen amateur botanist and belong to the Canterbury Botanical Society. I love Alpine plants, especially Hebe and small Aciphylla which I grow at home from seed and cuttings. I have travelled widely in the South Island. In my early days I did a trip to every type locality of the Hebe listed in the Flora of New Zealand. I have not done any major tramps because I usually get to the open tops and then spend the rest of the time fossicking about looking at the alpine plants. I have done many summer trips to the top of ski fields. I have been to the top of the following mountains: Tapaue-o-Uenuku, Murchison, Isobel, St. Patrick ,Sebastopol, Glasgow, William, Constitution, Hutt, Peel, Hummock Peak, Pisa, and Burns. I take most of my holidays in Feb - March to do my exploring, I have several ski fields planned for next year. My next trips will include Mount, Haast, Southey, Weld and Seymour.
