I've been a real keen tramper for more than 30 years. I cut my teeth primarily in the Tararua's with the HVTC where I've worn out more than my fair share of boot tread traipsing up and down every spur and crappy little creek I could find - all in the quest for 'Red line', whilst gaining valuable fitness & experience for those (my big passion) multi-day trans alpine trips to South Westland, of which Mt Aspiring National Park is my favourite.
Then, 10 years ago I met my wife (not a bad thing), kids and a mortgage soon followed which serverely depleted time and funds for tramping. But, with the missus back in the work force again shortly, I'm now looking forward to getting back into the hills again on a semi regular basis - if I'm allowed.
