The track follows the old asbestos mine road, starting at the hairpin bend on Cobb Dam Road past the power station. It climbs gently above the Takaka River, passing the old asbestos mine after 1 hour. The hut, once home of Henry and Annie Chaffey, is a further 30 minutes.
From the hut, tracks continue on to Lower Junction on the Takaka River.
