Frews Hut
8/10 bunker,like the Hilton after Frews Bivvy.Overlooks the Whitcombe River & 200m west of Frews Creek.We saw a pair of Whio at the creek,2 minutes from the hut.Alt 214m.We`d come from Canyon Creek,over Mathias Pass &thence to Frews Biv.Five in the biv was cosy to say the least,so to arrive at the Frews Hilton was dramatic.So was the Whitcombe with overnight rain,but a lull saw levels drop quickly.Rapid Creek was still a mission.Care required

Honora DoC have been making noises about putting a bridge back over Rapid Creek sometime.

Andrew Barker I was lucky to have spent 2 days recently in the old Frew Hut, now located on private property in Kowhitirangi, near the Hokitika Gorge.
