Zeke's Hut
A small 4 bunk hut in the Hihitahi Reserve.
The hut is located about 200 metres along from old hut site. The hut was put in August 2007.
The hut has a small classic DOC wood Burner, stainless steel bench and seating. Water is from tank outside.
Small deck and veranda area along with plenty of firewood makes this a pleasant hut.
Highly recommended for small groups or solo trampers. Camping would be possible 200 metres along in old hut site clearing but not near the new hut. Also large clear area with great views on Hihitahi Summit makes for good camping.

From State Highway 1 between Waioru and Taihape park in the sign posted access paddock on the east side of road just south of where road passes over train track. Paddock is part of old highway. Information sign marks start of track. This is a muddy track at start but becomes fine after first climb taking 2 - 3 hours to reach hut. |
