A poled route from Mangakokeke Roadend, where there is a car park and toilet, will take you across some steep farmland to the park boundary. Then, the track ascents through forest. About 700m climb/3-4 hours will bring you to the newly-built Purity Hut(6) sited just below the tussock. On a clear day, there are stunning views of the ranges including Mt Ruapehu and Taranaki.
