Oamaru Hut is on the confluence of Kaipo & Oamaru Streams... which becomes the mighty Mohaka.
Revision#2:
In winter we couldn't safely ford the Mohaka, approaching hut from off Poronui Station. Soaking wet, we had to camp in the ti tree @ minus 8 degrees. So ... As the Boy Scouts say: be prepared!
