The tracks in the Cobb Valley begin from the access road to the Cobb Reservoir from Upper Takaka.To reach the area from Nelson turn south off SH 60 at Upper Takaka and follow the road past the power station and up to the reservoir.The steep winding metal road is occasionally closed because of slips or snow conditions.The drive will give you access to the likes of Asbestos track & Cottage, Cobb Ridge track to Lake Peel (and to Mt. Arthur via the Tablelands), Bullock track, Sylvester Lake & Hut and at the western end of dam the popular Trilobite Hut and track leading to Fenella Hut.
