Getting there
|
This is rough country and it should be undertaken by experienced parties only. Access to County Hut is usually via the main Waitaha Valley track. Turn off SH6 at Pukekura onto Allen Rd. Permission is required from the land owner at the end of the road. Follow the track up the TL of the Waitaha until you reach the turnoff to Top Waitaha Hut. From here, follow the track up County Stream to the hut. Allow 2-3 days to get to County Hut. You will pass Kiwi Flat and Moonbeam Huts along the way. |
