Glimpse of Lake Brunner from Mt French July 2011

This photo was taken while climbing Mt French and looks down past point 1233m, where there is a radio repeater mast, to Lake Brunner. Mt French is quite a popular walk in summer when there is no snow. There is a track and poled route to the summit where there is a fallen down trig. The vegetation & views are similar to those encountered on the Mt Te Kinga walk.
The DOC sign gives a walking time of 4hrs one way. This trip it took 2.5hrs going up including some short stops. The snow was nice and hard & quite good walking. A check of of an old diary revealed that the last trip up in 1975 also took 2.5hrs.
The map pointers show the summit of Mt French (1305m) & Point 1233m.
