Islands Hut in the Eyre mountains. Probably the most remote hut in the park, and a great destination if for that reason alone. The hut lies in the uppermost reaches of the valley - mainly tussock and scrub with islands of beech is sheltered spots, one of which shelters the hut. North of the hut peaks climb to over 1700m. Access is possible from wither the Windlay (and beyond that Oreti) or from the Acton - but crossing passes many option are possible: Eyre Creek via Irthing and Cromel, Cromel itself, ...
