This picture was taken from near the summit of Mt Inframeta & looks along the Meta Range toward the Southern Alps. Mt Meta is the peak in the middle distance. To its right at the edge of the photo is Frews Saddle.

It is only about 2km as the crow flies from the top of Mt Inframeta down to Serpentine hut. A nicely contoured ridge runs down off Inframeta to just below Serpentine hut. This ridge used to have a swingbridge at the bottom but it is long gone. JH & I checked out this ridge when returning from the Hoki River gaining access to the ridge by heading up the creek opposite Serpentine hut then climbing out on the TL toward the top of the TL fork. The high bush & scrub zone on the main ridge is a bastard to get through but the route would be ok if a track was cut.
