Hut in the Harkness Valley. Good access for hunting. 6 bunks, wood burning stove and water supply. Built in 1964, the hut’s original standard hut design has been upgraded by adding a small covered front veranda and creating a separate wood cupboard.

Boyd Lodge (for Oamaru / Cascade / Kaimanawas): 5.5km, 1.5-3hrs. Track. Crossing of Ngauroro generally low. Harkness Hut / Ngaawapurua Hut (for Kaweka main range, Kurukapango): 6/12km down Harkness Valley. Poled route (3km) then track. Multiple creek crossings, possibly deep below Harkness Hut. 5 hour walk off track over Mangapapa Saddle to Oamaru Hut (supposedly). |
