This is a tidy four bunk hut in the head basin of Scamper Torrent. S T is a tributary of Whirling Water which in turn flows to the Waitaha River at Kiwi Flat above the Morgan Gorge.

The hut is in a top spot. It is worth visiting just to see the basin it sits in but it also gives access via the Smyth Range to the Wanganui River and Waitaha headwater
