This biv is situated in the headwaters of the Waitahu River. It is high in the scrub zone almost at the tussock line. Very few people walk in to this biv. Most visitors fly in, either chamois hunters or DOC staff doing hut checks. It is possible to walk into the biv from the road end in a day!
