Getting there
Access is on the backroad to Walter Peak, after the Mavora Lakes turnoff, head over the hill into the upper Oreti and park at the fishermans access area, wander on down the valley, following the 4x4 track next to the Oreti until you reach the Ashton Burn Creek and then you can climb up the ridge downstream of the creek and traverse into the hut or a nice way to go is to climb upto peak 1330 and then wander around the tops and then down to the hut.
