A great hut to escape to, an hour or so beyond Lake Daniells and away from the crowds, sleeps 4 and has an open fire, this is not a doc hut, privatley owned but it's not locked, we pushed on through to this hut as there were around 40 people staying at Lake Daniells. There are some awesome Red Beech trees at the head of the lake and we heard a Kaka and there were plenty of South Island Robins about, this hut can be reached by 4x4 from north of the lake, also heaps of great campsites by the lake and towards the head of the lake, much nicer than a crowded hut.
