Waiohine Swing Bridge near Totara Flats
This was the swing bridge over the Waiohine River next to Totara Flats. On a some days the wind comes strongly down the river and crossing the bridge can be an exciting experience, but it's safe.

OldGoat Yeah ,exciting . One of the last jobs i did before i retired from DOC was to take all that netting of, install deernet 2/3rds of way up sides of bridge and add sway wires top and bottom , upstream and downstream . Took 2 weeks for two of us to do it , and it blew like hell a couple of those days. But the bridge is so good now you could take yoour grandma across in a screaming norwesterly!
