Decided to fish the Dingleburn and decided we would go over the sadlle from the Ahuriri valley - it stated it was a 3.5 hr tramp.Havent done to much tramping but do a lot of walking valleys fishing. Found this tramp steep and hard. Took us nearly 6 hours with our overloaded packs. Past a couple of other trampers who thought the times given were also a bit understated. The views from the saddle were unreal and the valley itself was tight and stunning. We stayed at the top Dingle hut and over the next 2 days walked several hours down the valley and fished our way back. Going back over the saddle from the dingle side to the Ahuriri was easier going as the dingle valley sits a bit higher than the Ahuriri Valley. Although we found it hard we are planning another trip there in the spring - hopefully more fish.
