Monowai Hut

Monowai Hut (12 beds, wood-burning stove, water) is a large hut at the north-western end of Lake Monowai. Sadly it has been abused by some users and was rubbish strewn with various items broken when I visited in 2004-2005. The area is, however, a great hit with the sandflies - so at least they appreciate it.

The hut is 30m from the lake shore, and swimming is possible. A beach 400m east of the hut is a more pleasent place for this than the area of sunken trees immediately adjacent.
